Project Overview
This Kitchen Kit Truro case study showcases the “Nobilia Slate Grey Flash Kitchen,” completed in October 2025 in Camborne, Cornwall. Delivered by our Truro team, the project transformed a dated galley into a sleek, modern space with enhanced storage, brighter surfaces, and a seamless, handleless aesthetic that feels both contemporary and highly practical for everyday living.
Why did the homeowners want to change their kitchen?
Mr and Mrs Tippett wanted to modernise their long, narrow galley kitchen and bring more light into the room. As part of a full strip-back renovation, taken back to brick, the works included new flooring, new spotlights, and freshly plastered walls. A key part of the brief was to improve storage capacity and organisation while upgrading to reliable, high-quality appliances. The result needed to feel brighter, cleaner, and easier to use day to day.
What design challenges did we solve, and how?
The main constraint was the end-wall radiator, which blocked a continuous run of cabinetry and limited usable prep space. By removing the radiator, we were able to wrap the kitchen around the end, creating a more seamless layout with meaningful gains in worktop and storage. To further brighten the narrow space, we used glossy, reflective finishes and integrated task lighting, ensuring both natural and artificial light bounce throughout the room for a fresh, open feel.

Which cabinets and worktops did we choose, and why?
We specified Nobilia Flash high-gloss doors in Slate Grey with a handleless design to deliver a clean, modern flow that’s easy to maintain and visually streamlined, ideal for a galley kitchen. The worktops are Nobilia 38mm Laminate in White Terrazzo Reproduction, chosen for their durability, contemporary terrazzo look, and subtle contrast against the slate cabinetry. For a crisp, cohesive finish, we continued the worktop and niche cladding into the window areas, tying the entire scheme together.
Which appliances and sink package complete the look?
A full suite of Neff appliances brings performance and harmony to the kitchen, including a Single Pyrolytic Oven with Slide & Hide door paired with a Microwave Oven, both in Graphite Grey. Centred in the workflow is a venting induction hob with integrated extraction and combi-zone cooking, removing the need for an overhead hood and keeping sight-lines clear. Integrated dishwasher, fridge freezer, and washing machine maintain the sleek handleless aesthetic, while a Franke composite sink with a stainless-steel tap adds durability and a premium touch to the wet zone.
What finishing touches make everyday life easier?
Flush-mounted LED lighting under the wall units delivers bright, shadow-free preparation areas and enhances the reflective quality of the high-gloss doors. Hidden internal cutlery drawers keep organisation discreet and surfaces clutter-free, reinforcing the minimalist look. Together, these details elevate both the feel and functionality of the space without adding visual noise.
How did it all come together in the end?
The finished kitchen feels brighter and more spacious, with a seamless extended run that makes the most of every millimetre. Removing the radiator and wrapping the cabinetry created real gains in storage and prep space, while the combination of Slate Grey gloss doors and White Terrazzo laminate worktops delivers a modern, low-maintenance finish that’s stylish and family-friendly. In short, it’s a confident, contemporary galley kitchen that works beautifully for everyday cooking and living.
