This Nobilia Olive kitchen was designed to transform a dated space into a modern, open-plan kitchen that connects seamlessly with the adjoining dining area.

By combining contemporary handleless cabinetry with natural textures and high-performance materials, the finished design delivers a kitchen that feels both refined and highly practical for everyday living.

What were the goals for the new kitchen?

The original kitchen was dated and lacked both storage and usable worktop space. The brief was to create a more open and functional layout that works for modern living while complementing the adjacent dining space.

A key priority was to maximise both storage and preparation areas, ensuring the kitchen could handle everyday use while also feeling spacious and well considered.

What design challenges did we solve, and how?

While the project required minimal structural work, part of a wall was adjusted to allow for a tall bank of cabinetry, helping to integrate larger appliances and improve the overall flow of the space.

The decision to remove wall units played a significant role in opening up the room, creating a lighter and more contemporary feel. Storage was instead built into tall units and internal drawer systems, ensuring functionality was not compromised.

Which cabinets and worktops did we choose, and why?

The client selected Nobilia anti-fingerprint cabinetry in an Olive finish, offering a soft, contemporary colour that works beautifully within the space.

Havana Oak accents were introduced to complement the flooring and bring warmth and contrast to the design, creating a balanced and cohesive look.

Dekton Trillium worktops were chosen for their durability and striking industrial aesthetic. The waterfall edge detail across the island enhances the visual impact while maintaining continuity in the material.

Which appliances and features complete the kitchen?

A full suite of NEFF appliances was selected following the client’s visit to a Kitchen Kit cookery event, ensuring both performance and consistency across the kitchen.

The venting hob was a key feature, allowing for a clean, open layout without the need for overhead extraction. A Blanco sink and tap complete the sink area, combining practicality with a premium finish.

How does the finished kitchen work day-to-day?

The new layout delivers a significant improvement in both usability and flow, with generous worktop space and clearly defined zones for cooking, preparation and storage.

The integration of internal drawers and tall storage ensures everything has its place, while the open-plan design creates a space that feels both functional and inviting.

The result is a modern kitchen that balances clean design with everyday practicality, perfectly suited to contemporary living.
