Project Overview
Completed in November 2025 by Kitchen Kit Truro, this bespoke Nobilia Structura kitchen was designed for a contemporary new-build home in St Ives, Cornwall, near Carbis Bay. Working closely with both the client and builder from the architect’s plan stage, the project focused on delivering a clean, uncluttered kitchen with strong architectural lines, generous storage, and a calm, modern aesthetic that complemented the home’s coastal setting.
What were the goals for the new kitchen?
The client wanted a kitchen that felt minimal, open, and highly functional, with an emphasis on clean lines and uninterrupted surfaces. A key requirement was to maximise storage without relying on wall units, keeping the space visually light and uncluttered. From the outset, the kitchen needed to integrate seamlessly with the wider open-plan living area while offering practical, accessible storage for everyday use.
What design challenges did we solve, and how?
Designing a kitchen with no wall units required careful planning to ensure sufficient storage was built into the layout without compromising the minimalist look. By introducing a full run of tall units and deep drawer storage, we were able to maintain clean sightlines while delivering excellent functionality. Using CAD design software from the early planning stage allowed the client and builder to visualise the layout clearly and refine details before installation, ensuring the final design aligned perfectly with the architectural intent of the new build.
Which cabinets and worktops did we choose, and why?
The kitchen features Nobilia Structura doors in Como Oak, chosen for their natural texture and warmth, paired with a Softline White island to create contrast and define the central space. A combination of push-to-open tall units and Line N handleless base units reinforces the streamlined aesthetic while keeping the kitchen practical and intuitive to use.
The client selected 20mm Caesarstone quartz worktops, which complement the cabinetry with a refined, durable finish and provide a high-quality surface suitable for everyday living.
Which appliances and sinks complete the look?
A premium appliance specification supports both performance and design. The kitchen includes a NEFF larder fridge and freezer with self-opening mechanism, Siemens StudioLine pyrolytic ovens, a Siemens dishwasher, and a Siemens venting hob, allowing uninterrupted sightlines across the space. These integrated appliances maintain the clean, architectural feel while delivering advanced functionality.
What finishing touches make everyday life easier?
The design includes a full run of deep drawers for accessible storage, full-height tall unit doors to keep clutter hidden, and a waterfall quartz end panel on the island to add a refined design detail. A fully coordinated utility room was also designed to complement the kitchen, ensuring practical tasks could be kept separate while maintaining a cohesive overall aesthetic throughout the home.
How did it all come together in the end?
The finished kitchen is an open, bright, and beautifully balanced space that works effortlessly within the new-build home. Natural light, a calm colour palette, and carefully planned storage combine to create a kitchen that feels both architectural and welcoming. The client and builder were delighted with the result, which delivers a clean, uncluttered design without sacrificing everyday practicality.
