Project Overview

Completed in April 2025 by Kitchen Kit Truro, this Nobilia Touch Door handleless kitchen transformed an old property in Mevagissey, Cornwall into a bright, open-plan space. As returning customers from a previous Newquay project, Ben and Sam asked us to deliver a modern, practical design that celebrates their beautiful coastal view while integrating thoughtful storage, premium surfaces, and a dedicated utility.

What were the goals for the new kitchen?

Ben and Sam wanted a contemporary kitchen that felt connected to their surroundings, with a fresh pop of colour that complemented the Mevagissey backdrop. The brief included space planning for an American fridge freezer and the creation of an adjoining utility with a sink and built-in washing machine. The project formed part of a larger refurbishment of their period property, so the design needed to feel seamless across kitchen, dining, and living zones while staying highly functional for daily life.

What design challenges did we solve, and how?

Accommodating an American fridge freezer without overpowering the room required careful zoning and cabinetry planning, ensuring circulation and sightlines remained open to the view. We also designed an efficient utility area with integrated storage and appliances, maintaining a clean, handleless aesthetic. The chosen colour palette provided the requested “pop” while still feeling timeless, and the layout balances display and concealment through dedicated larder storage, a broom cupboard, and integrated bins to keep surfaces clear.

Which cabinets and worktops did we choose, and why?

We specified Nobilia in a striking combination: Touch Door in Aqua for a fresh, modern statement, paired with Oak Montreal wall units and panel details to bring warmth and texture. This handleless format delivers a clean, streamlined flow that suits open-plan living and complements the coastal setting. For the worksurfaces, we chose Dekton Natura 22 in a 20mm thickness, offering superb durability, a refined, stone-like aesthetic, and a premium finish that elevates the whole scheme.

Which appliances and sinks complete the look?

A full Siemens suite provides performance and reliability: iQ700 single oven, iQ700 combination oven, induction hob, extractor, dishwasher, and washing machine. We also incorporated the requested American fridge freezer into the plan for everyday convenience. Two Franke sinks paired with two matching taps support multitasking across kitchen and utility, ensuring a practical setup for cooking, cleaning, and entertaining.

What finishing touches make everyday life easier?

Discreet LED lighting under the worktops and wall units brightens task areas and adds gentle ambience in the evenings. An integrated bin unit keeps waste hidden and accessible, while a pull-out larder offers organised, easy-reach storage. In the utility, a dedicated broom cupboard and built-in appliances keep the space tidy and efficient, reinforcing the clean, handleless aesthetic throughout.

How did it all come together in the end?

The result is a wonderful open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area that makes the most of the stunning Mevagissey view. The Aqua and Oak Montreal pairing delivers a modern yet welcoming palette, while Dekton surfaces add a sleek, durable finish. With smart storage, integrated lighting, and carefully planned appliances, the space feels calm, functional, and ready for everyday life or entertaining, seamlessly connected to the home’s wider refurbishment.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kitchen Kit (Sam and Nigel) were easy to deal with, went through details to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted and at a price that was comfortably within our budget. Nice to see care and a personal service being taken throughout the whole process, always quick to respond to any queries. The kitchen was for our house which was a new build, so lots of co-ordination with other tradesmen and all handled well.

I recently visited the Truro Kitchen Kit branch and was greeted by Sam and Olivia who helped me through the process of designing and ordering my kitchen with great ease. There was so much choice of great quality kitchens and appliances to choose from. I am really thrilled with the way my new kitchen has turned out and would also like to thank Aaron the fitter for his installation of the kitchen.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have discovered this excellent and professional firm through the recommendation of a friend who had also been recommended. We can’t praise them highly enough from visiting the lovely showroom to the finished design through to the finished result. No enquiry was too much trouble, neither was it a problem if we weren’t sure about something, or changed our minds. The aftercare and follow up were amazing. They come and visit to check you are completely satisfied and all is as it should be! There is a tremendous choice of products and the in store are well displayed. All is of the upmost quality and compare favourably with the national stores. They are a tremendous team. I would say look no further.
