A Contemporary Nobilia Masterpiece in Exeter
Case Study: Mr & Mrs Clyburn
• Location: Exeter, Devon
• Completed by: Kitchen Kit Exeter
Project Overview
Mr and Mrs Clyburn approached Kitchen Kit Exeter during a major home renovation and rear property extension. The aim was to maximise natural light and create a spacious, open-plan area for modern family living. Their brief was clear: design a sleek kitchen that matched the home’s new layout and architectural vision. They wanted a stylish space that also delivered practical features for everyday use.
Design Vision & Challenges face by Kitchen Kit Exeter
The main design challenge was preserving natural light while adding bold, contemporary finishes. Large garden doors and a roof window flooded the space with sunlight. The design needed to enhance this light, not block it. We positioned the dining area beneath the roof window to make the most of the natural light. A handleless kitchen design added to the sleek, modern feel and kept the space visually open. The result: a truly contemporary Nobilia masterpiece in the heart of Exeter.
What Kitchen Furniture & Style did we use?
We selected Nobilia Stone Art in Grey Slate, a textured and stylish finish that provides both visual depth and a contemporary edge. This was paired with a handleless profile, finished in a sleek stainless-steel trim, to deliver a minimalist, clean-lined aesthetic.
What Additional Features did we add for the Nobilia Kitchen?
Home Living open shelving was incorporated into the layout, subtly integrating the kitchen with the adjacent living space and adding warmth and softness to the modern design. The hob alcove was fully clad in Quartz, creating a dramatic and practical centrepiece that ties the design together creating a Nobilia Masterpiece in Exeter.
What worktops & surfaces work best for Nobilia Kitchens?
For the worktops, we chose 20mm Classic Quartz in Tahiti, a light-toned quartz that contrasts beautifully with the dark cabinetry. The surfaces catch natural light perfectly and add an airy, polished feel to the overall space.
What appliances & technology can be used for Nobilia Kitchens?
To meet the client’s request for high-performance, reliable appliances with a sleek, integrated look, we specified a full suite of Bosch products:
• Two Series 8 Bosch Ovens
• Bosch Tall Fridge and Freezer
• Bosch Dishwasher with Cutlery Tray
• Large Bosch Induction Hob, positioned in the dedicated alcove for functionality and flair
These appliances provide powerful functionality and a unified aesthetic across the kitchen.
How to create Functional Layout Highlights in a Nobilia Kitchen
• Tall Unit Run: A long run along one wall houses the fridge, freezer, and ovens, transitioning smoothly into expansive counter space incorporating the hob and sink.
• Multifunctional Island: Designed for maximum efficiency, the island features deep drawers for storage, plus an overhang for casual stool seating—ideal for relaxed meals or entertaining.
• Under-Counter Lighting: Carefully placed lighting enhances usability and atmosphere, while subtly showcasing the textures and tones of the cabinetry and quartz.
What was the Outcome?
Mr and Mrs Clyburn now enjoy a bright, sociable kitchen space that feels like the heart of their newly extended home. The combination of sophisticated finishes, high-spec appliances, and thoughtful design has created a kitchen that is not only visually stunning but also beautifully functional for modern living.
Kind words from our customer
“We had our kitchen installed in September, and although there were a few delays with certain items – such as the hob, due to ongoing post-COVID supply chain issues – the team at Kitchen Kit were always helpful, transparent, and quick to find solutions. The showroom experience was excellent, with plenty of time and care taken to help us make the right choices. They also recommended a fitter, Gary, who was superb, professional, tidy, and a real craftsman. We’re genuinely delighted with the end result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
